Where we can we:-
* Print on recycled papers and board
* Print using vegetable inks
* Use natural, reclaimed or organic fabrics
* Recycle paper and fabric off cuts [Although this is small as we like to use everything:)]
* Use recycled or recyclable packaging {we have biodegradeable jiffy bags]
* DO NOT buy bulk we use small print runs for our printed range and all others materials are bought at RRP as we only buy small quantities as and when they are ordered.
* We only make items when they are ordered. EG Rustic hearts, Drift away range. We always only keep limited stock.
* Some of our products are produced solely for charity. Currently we are raising money for "Water for Life" project.
* We donated stock to 2008 Islamic Relief Cardiff fundraising event. Our products were auctioned off and the total raised reached £1,500 approx.
Have you cottoned on yet?
Organic cotton is cotton that's grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Conventional cotton farming is responsible for approximately 25 percent of the insecticides and 10 percent of the pesticides used worldwide.
* 200,000 people die each year due to the use of pesticide use[pesticide action network UK and (WHO)].
* Numerous farmers and their families do not have proper protective equipment and are therefore directly exposed to noxious chemicals on a daily basis.
* Pesticides enter local water tables, causing pollution that affects everyone who likes to drink water
* Cotton byproducts (e.g. cotton straw and cottonseed meal) are used to feed cattle and introduce pesticides into the human food chain.
* Pesticides weaken the immune system and may be deadly for those who are HIV positive.
* Scientific studies have shown higher instances of brain cancer, leukemia, and birth defects in children with early exposure to pesticides (Natural Resource Defense Council) .
* A 2006 study by the Harvard School of Public Health has found a 70% increase in the risk of developing Parkinson's disease when exposed to even low levels of pesticides.
* Pesticide use is corelated with wildlife and livestock deaths.
* Pests can develop resistance to pesticides, which means that pesticides will inevitably become stronger and harsher (a vicious cycle).
Enough said!
